The main living room, with so much glass, signalled Curtains, as the ideal choice to ensure the best possible insulation. The long length Drapes further accentuate the dramatic effect of the two storey high windows.
The Curtains were installed higher than the windows and designed to hang gathered on the floor to ensure the Curtains achieved the right proportion in relation to the large expanses of glass. The graceful fall of the Curtains adds an extra sense of grandeur.
The five metre length Drapes have a luxurious formal appearance with a Goblet Curtain heading and button embellishments.
The Tiebacks, frame the large scale windows and were intentionally made to fit tighter than usual so more of a ballooning effect is achieved when holding the Drapes to the sides.
Consistency has been maintained throughout the home in the fabrics, Decorative Rods and Holdbacks to ensure there is a link between each room across the two levels. Elegant Holdbacks, mounted to the walls, fit the Drapes elegantly in place and tie in with the Rods.
The simplicity of Soft Roman Blinds was combined with the fresh softness of Sheer Curtains in the guest bedrooms, walk-in robe and bathroom. To ensure a complete block out and maximise insulation benefits the Blinds were lined and installed outside the recess of the windows.
White Sheers layered across the Roman Blinds glisten in the sun, and our Knife Pleat Curtain heading adds a modern and tailored look allowing a flat finish when the Curtains are drawn closed. The Sheers also add privacy during the day when the Blinds are raised to let light into the rooms.
In the formal living and dining rooms, Curtains were designed with a Reverse Pleat Heading hanging below Decorative Rods, creating a tailored appearance. Flat Austrians were chosen for the formal living room to add a decorative finish. Due to the closeness of the three large windows they were designed with a small gather.
Adding lining was essential when designing the home’s window coverings. Lining provides insulation for the home, trapping the heat in during winter and blocking it out in summer and assists in reducing outside noise. The lining also protects the fabrics from fading or deteriorating from sun damage, extending the life of the window coverings and allowing the client to capitalise on their investment.
In addition to all these practical benefits, our lining also added aesthetic benefits. Backing the Curtains with lining creates an improved drape with increased fullness allowing for a luxurious finish.
All the different window coverings were also lined with the same type and colour lining to ensure uniformity to the exterior appearance of the home while allowing a broad choice of textures, weaves and colours for the interior.
In the ensuite, the client wanted to take advantage of the high windows and allow maximum natural light to filter into the room as well as ensuring the beautiful bush views weren’t obstructed.
To meet the brief we installed Plantation Shutters only across the bottom half of the window panes. This ensures privacy for the bathroom with the use of adjustable panels but allows light to stream through the top windows and keep the bush views.
