After holidaying in the United States and visiting The Hamptons in New York State’s Long Island, Elle and Troy fell in love with the iconic style of architecture and interior design that the area is famous for.

“We have been lucky to have had a few trips to the USA over the past 10 years and have visited some of the pretty Hamptons seaside towns such as Nantucket, Montauk and South Hampton,” explains Elle. “The houses are so beautiful.”

In fact, so taken were the couple with Hamptons architecture, that, back on home soil, they visited a four bedroom display home with a distinctive ‘Long Island’ façade. It wasn’t long before they’d decided to build their very own Hamptons-inspired home in Lang Lang, in Victoria’s South Gippsland region, despite being very happy in what was then their home.

“Troy and I both fell in love with everything about the house’s design and decided we couldn’t let this one go,” remembers Elle.

“dollar curtains + blinds are a fabulous team of professionals who took their time to make sure we were 100% happy with everything. ”

True blue.

The couple luckily had a “pretty smooth” 12 month build despite their original builder undergoing liquidation. They quickly pivoted and had another builder finish off the final touches to their home. “I did change a few things along the way which may also have caused some delays but overall everything is just as I had envisaged,” says Elle.

Since getting the keys to their dream home in October 2023, the couple have relished the process of turning it into their much-dreamed-of Hamptons haven. “Hamptons style is fresh, clean-looking and classic,” says Elle.

“I love how all the different shades and patterns of blue combine with white and sandy tones and complement each other beautifully.” I’ve always been a fan of blue and white so knew this would form the basis of my new home’s interior design,” she continues.

Knowing how quality window furnishings can add style, warmth and practicality to a new build, Elle approached dollar curtains + blinds Pakenham store to help her finish her home’s interiors.

“Our Hamptons style home called for blue + white, so I chose floral Roman Blinds for our kitchen windows. They complete the space, adding a classy look.”

Material world.

“I knew I wanted Plantation Shutters throughout because they are classically Hamptons but I also wanted to combine Sheers and different fabrics and textures in blues and whites,” explains Elle.

After an in-home consultation, Elle chose vibrant Roman Blinds in Montauk fabric in the Marine colourway for her kitchen windows.

“As well as the blue and white colours, I loved the pattern which complemented everything in our open plan kitchen/family/dining room. I also love that they change the look depending on whether you have them as total block out, half open or just a border along the top of the two windows,” enthuses Elle.

“The Plantation Shutters add a touch of elegance to the rooms, provide great light control, + are incredibly easy to maintain.”

Sheer class.

Striking full-height Sheer Curtains were also chosen for the living/dining area which accentuate the void’s dramatic six metre high ceilings.

“There were so many fabrics to choose from but, with the help of my dollar curtains + blinds Interior Consultant, I chose the Cannes fabric in Pearl.

The Sheers were also paired with Blockout Roller Blinds in Daytona fabric in the colour Opal on the sliding doors to the alfresco area, helping to shield the family room from the sun in the summer.

“I’m so pleased with our Sheer Curtains because they provide just the right coverage without blocking out too much light.”

“The Blockout Roller Blinds for our sliding doors were the perfect selection, offering just the right coverage + a sleek look. The Interior Consultant was extremely helpful, providing us with great ideas + options. ”

Country oasis.

Elle and Troy couldn’t be happier with the difference their new window furnishings have made to their home.

“They are the final touches to every room which are not only beautiful but functional; protecting our furniture from the harsh sun, keeping us warm in winter and making our home totally private at night,” says Elle.

We will be definitely using dc+b them again, in fact, we’ve just received a quote for Aluminium Shutters for our undercover pergola which we are hoping to have installed soon,” says Elle.
