Are Cellular Blinds worth it?
Yes! Cellular Blinds save up to 32%* more on heating and cooling costs compared to Roller Blinds, making them ideal for helping the environment and long term savings.
How insulating are Cellular / Honeycomb Blinds?
Cellular Blinds are designed with a unique honeycomb cell shape that creates pockets of energy-saving insulation.
The cell construction improves window energy efficiency by trapping air, reducing heat energy transferring in and out of the window.
Are Cellular Blinds better at blocking light than Roller Blinds?
Yes! The headrail design minimises light gaps, with just a 5mm gap at each end, unlike Roller Blinds which have around 15mm gaps and lack a complete light seal at the top.
*Savings are based on installing fully-recessed, reveal-mounted 20mm single cell blockout fabric in an average Sydney home, compared to the House Energy Rating of Roller Blinds from AccuRate. These calculations are independently modelled, and actual savings may vary depending on window type and installation.
Are Cellular Blinds easy to keep clean?
Cellular Blinds, also known as honeycomb shades, are not particularly difficult to keep clean. Our Cellular Blinds are made from anti-static durable polyester that aids in dust resistance. However, like any window dressing, they can collect dust and dirt over time.
To clean Cellular Blinds, you can use a soft brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner to gently remove any dust or debris that has accumulated on the surface of the shades. Alternatively, you can use a feather duster or a microfibre cloth to wipe them down. For deeper cleaning, you can use a damp cloth with mild soap and water to gently scrub the surface of the shades.
It’s important to avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners on Cellular Blinds, as these can damage the fabric and shorten the lifespan of the shades. Additionally, be careful not to crush or flatten the pleats of the shades while cleaning them, as this can affect their insulating properties.
If something does manage to sneak into one of the cells, simply blow the inside with a hair dryer set on cool. Easy!
Overall, with proper care and maintenance, Cellular Blinds are a durable and attractive window treatment that are easy to keep clean.
