Design Styles for Custom Made Curtains.

Making Curtains for more than 55+ years means we’ve made and perfected every style imaginable. Here’s just a selection of some of our more popular styles.

Wave Fold Curtains.

Also known as ‘S’ fold, this style has a smooth, evenly distributed symmetrical ‘wave’ formation that’s created using a special track and tape heading. The vertical lines elongate walls, making the space seem taller and larger. Easy to operate, it offers a contemporary, relaxed look giving an understated aesthetic favoured by interior designers. Suitable for Blockout and Sheer Curtains.

Triple Pinch Pleat Curtains.

This smartly tailored, classic look is ‘pinched’ at evenly spaced intervals in groups of three. Suited to traditional homes or formal rooms, it creates a beautiful fullness and stacks neatly to the side. Ideal for limited wall space. Suitable for Blockout and Sheer Curtains.

Double Pinch Pleat Curtains.

This version of the Pinch Pleat is ‘pinched’ at evenly spaced intervals in groups of two. Suited to traditional homes or formal rooms, it is not as full as a Triple Pinch Pleat and offers a neat appearance on large windows. Suitable for Blockout Curtains.

Pencil Pleat Curtains.

Pencil Pleat or Gathered Curtains feature folds of fabric that are tightly gathered to create small pencil sized pleats. This style allows you to gather the fabric to your desired fullness. Less structured than the Pinch Pleat, it creates a soft and informal look. Suitable for Blockout and Sheer Curtains.

Reverse Pleat Curtains.

A simple, structured style with a tailored appearance, this Curtain style hangs below a decorator rod and has a larger stack back compared to other styles. Suitable for Blockout Curtains.

Eyelet Curtains.

The Eyelet style features metal rings that are pressed into the top heading of the Curtain. Teamed with a decorator rod it offers a casual look with less stack back. Perfect for smaller windows where you need to take advantage of the natural light. Suitable for both Blockout and Sheer Curtains.

Fabrics.

Fabric is an essential part of choosing Curtains. Each fabric has its own characteristics and performance levels so it’s important to choose the best fabric for your lifestyle. We offer an extensive collection of contemporary and traditional Curtain fabrics for light, warmth and privacy within your home, office or commercial space.

When selecting fabrics for your home, safety and sustainability are just as essential as style. At dollar curtains + blinds, we’re proud to offer Oeko-Tex® Certified Fabrics as part of Australia’s largest range. These fabrics provide peace of mind by ensuring that the materials are free from harmful substances, safe for human contact, and produced with environmental responsibility in mind.

Curtain Width Options

Width.

It’s always good to aim for wall-to-wall if there is wall space available. If not, go as wide as possible. This means that when drawn open, the stack back covers less of the window, maximising your view and natural light.

Curtain Height Options

Height.

Where possible go high and wide. Curtains can be installed on the ceiling, known as ceiling fit, or fixed to the wall, known as face fit. It’s best to go ceiling-to-floor or as high as you can if there is ample wall space. Doing so adds the illusion of height to windows and rooms while also having practical benefits such as blocking out light and increasing insulation.

Length.

What length should I choose? It’s very much a personal choice, but for light control, privacy, and insulation reasons – not to mention aesthetic appeal – we always recommend full length Curtains where possible. We can design to any length but our three standard length options are Float, Kiss, and Puddle.

Curtain Stacking Options

Stacking.

Probably not a term you’re familiar with, but it basically means the amount of space the Curtains occupy when in a fully open position. Our Curtains can be designed to be centre opening with the Curtains stacked on both sides of the window when drawn open, or with a one way opening with the Curtains stacking back to either the left or right side of the window when drawn open. Curtains can also hang freely to draw to any position on your Track or Rod.
