Semi Translucent Roman Blinds

The best holiday homes offer comfortable, warm and inviting spaces and that’s certainly true of this elegant country retreat in Victoria’s Bacchus Marsh.

Owner Ali has revived the heritage property in stunning fashion with hints of old-world charm creating the perfect sanctuary for guests to relax and unwind.

With the property blessed with beautiful original sash windows and period doors, the window furnishings needed to enhance the heritage features as well as offering practicality for guests.

Warm and earthy colours, classic designs and luxurious soft furnishing fabrics are the key to creating a sumptuous space.

Blockout Curtains and Pelmet

Classic charm.

Pinch Pleat Blockout Curtains – paired with Toni Tiebacks with piping – complement the double doors in the living room and master bedroom, chosen for their timeless good looks plus light control and privacy qualities. They are also the best product for thermal and sound insulation, reducing both heat loss in the winter and heat gain in the summer.

The Blockout Curtains in the living room are smartly finished with a padded Pelmet upholstered in a complementary fabric, for a more formal look. The Pelmet also offers further insulation and light control by trapping air and light at the top of the window.

Elsewhere, in the living areas, sash windows are finished with Soft Roman Blinds which, when pulled up, allows the simple beauty of the original windows to shine through.

Soft Roman Blinds combine the simplicity of Blinds with the warmth and versatility of soft furnishing fabrics. When drawn up, the Blinds gather into a soft, pleated stack to beautifully frame the windows. Here, the ornate geometric jacquard drapery fabric adds a pop of colour and pattern to the room’s pale interior scheme.

Roman Blinds were also chosen for the breakfast nook in the kitchen, but here they were made in a Sheer fabric to reduce glare and protect against UV rays while letting the natural daylight stream into the kitchen. dollar curtains + blinds also custom-made the bespoke window seat with contrast piping, creating a cosy yet comfortable spot to enjoy breakfast or a cup of coffee.

“Our Curtains and Blinds have made everything cohesive as well as being a beautiful way to frame our views.”

Bathing beauty.

In the stylish bathroom, Cellular Blinds were the perfect pick for the double sash windows over the freestanding bath. As with the Sheer Roman Blinds in the kitchen, the translucent fabric lets softly diffused natural light stream in while adding privacy, both of which are important in a bathroom.

Here, the Cellular Blinds have a Top-Down/Bottom-Up design which means that the top can be pulled down so anyone taking a bath can look up to the treetops while retaining privacy at the bottom.

“The versatility of being able to open from the top and the bottom make the Cellular Blind in our bathroom work so well,” says owner Ali.

Cellular Blinds also have superior energy efficiency as their unique honeycomb cell construction traps air making it more difficult for heat energy to transfer in and out of the window.

Ali couldn’t be happier with the difference her window furnishings from dollar curtains + blinds have made to her home.

“Our Curtains and Blinds have made everything cohesive as well as being a beautiful way to frame our views,” she says.
