When Lauren and her partner renovated their home in Melbourne’s north eastern suburbs they considered the window furnishings such an important part of the project they factored them in at the beginning.

“Window coverings set the tone of your home and can make or break a renovation,” says Lauren. “They bring a room together and shouldn’t be an afterthought.

“Too many people leave it until the end of a renovation or build but then run out of money and end up buying low-quality ready-made blinds online – or resort to hanging up sheets to cover their windows,” she continues.

To ensure she allocated sufficient funds in her reno budget, Lauren went into a dollar curtains + blinds store to discuss her options before any work started on the house.

In the beginning.

Wanting a “dramatic, high-end designer look” with a mixture of floor-to-ceiling Curtains and Plantation Shutters, Lauren was able to get expert advice from dollar curtains + blinds interior consultants that her ideas would suit her renovation plans.

“It can be overwhelming looking at all the options for window furnishings. We found it super helpful to view the range in store as relying on photos is too risky when you’re making such an investment purchase,” she explains.

The free quote off her plans also allowed her to budget accordingly – and avoid having to resort to those bedsheets down the track.

Material world.

The Curtains have a semi-sheer finish, letting dappled natural light come through without sacrificing privacy while the Curtain tracks were designed to be ceiling fit, adding height and the illusion of space.

The soft grey tones complement the sleek monochromatic scheme that Lauren used throughout her home.

In the bedrooms the same Curtains have a layer of Blockout lining behind the Curtain fabric, ensuring complete light and privacy control. They were designed to be wall (face) fit so the curtain tracks can hang neatly under the cornices.

In order to achieve the luxe look she desired, Lauren wanted the Curtains to “puddle” on the floor.

“dollar curtains + blinds design your curtains to whatever length you’re after. We love the romantic feel that the floor-to-ceiling Curtains create in each room, especially in the open plan living room,” she says.

Practical benefits.

White PVC Plantation Shutters added to the bay windows and wet rooms were all custom made for a perfect fit and add a refined finish to the home’s interiors. dollar curtains + blinds new generation PVC shutters have the added benefits of being UV, water and moisture resistant, helping to withstand fading, cracking or warping.

Again, Lauren couldn’t be happier with what her “beautiful Plantation Shutters” bring to her finished home.

“Shutters suit all home interiors, no matter the style or age of the home. The PVC range is especially practical in bathrooms as it doesn’t matter if water hits them – inevitable with a two-year-old!

“We also love how you can angle the shutter blade to allow natural light but ensure privacy and hide the view of the fences and neighbours.”
