“The combination between contemporary & vintage pieces of furniture… the vintage is a nod to the history of the build and also brings fond memories of our childhood. And the contemporary affords us modern day luxuries we can all feel grateful for. Our kids love all the colour!”

— Tash

We chat to Natasha Webb, celebrant, mother and ‘colour lover’.

We sit down with Tash to find out more about where she get’s her inspiration from and her love for the 80’s.

Three words that best describe you?

Always smiling, friendly + colourful

What’s your ideal day?

  1. Wake up early to a clean house, yet nap and doze until 9am, strong local coffee whilst walking the dog, lazy lunch at a winery with hubby + friends, light a candle the moment I get home and enjoy an arvo cat nap, wake up to scroll Facebook marketplace and find a total bargain & rush to pick it up! Come home to place it where it goes like a prize. Perhaps another walk, Thai food for dinner, sunset watching, Netflix, hot water bottle and bed!

What’s your favourite colour?

  1. Pink!

What is your most cherished possession?

  1. My diamond web ring that my in-laws gave me for my 40th birthday. It’s from Dubai in the shape of a spider web… and our surname is Webb. Pretty cool. I wear it every day!

What’s on your interiors wish list right now?

We desperately need an outdoor reno & outdoor furniture.

What’s your interior style?

Minimalist, over the top or somewhere in between? Borderline maximalist yet I still take a deep breath of calm when I walk in. I do feel I could get rid of a few things, yet I love things too much! Colourful or neutral? Ummm… trick question? 😉

Do you live in a house or apartment?

  1. An 80’s double storey home built in 1983.

What’s your favourite room and why?

  1. Lately it’s the library where the built-in teak cabinetry is filled with 80’s vases (not books!).

What are the 3 most important things that make your home feel like a home?

The combination between contemporary & vintage pieces of furniture… the vintage is a nod to the history of the build and also brings fond memories of our childhood. And the contemporary affords us modern day luxuries we can all feel grateful for. Our kids love all the colour!

What was your biggest splurge when designing your home?

  1. Fortunately for us, we bought our home as is and it came architecturally designed and that’s what sparked our interest. The quality of the build was fabulous so all we needed to do was add our own decor and ART has been our biggest splurges for sure. Investing in art has been fabulous.

What lesson(s) did you learn when you designed your home?

  1. That it’s ok to try and try again… sometimes I will style things a certain way and at the time think it’s a great idea and months, even years later come up with an idea that’s a million times better and change it and wonder why I never did that in the first place. Evolving with your home is a joy all in itself.

When it comes to designing a home, what does your design process look like?

  1. Matchy matchy… I’m an 80’s cliche. I love this to go with that and that to go with this.

What are your top 3 design/style tips for building or renovating a house?

  1. Balance… I don’t know how to explain that as I didn’t do a course on it, yet I like to walk in a room and feel that everything looks balanced… height, amount of items etc… art needs to be hung at the right height and don’t be afraid to show who you are in your own home! Following trends is a bit of a snore.

You’re given a limited renovation budget; how would you spend it wisely to transform a home?

Paint, light fittings, curtains of course!

What’s the biggest interior design mistake you’ve ever made?

  1. Good question! Always make mistakes in terms of where I place furniture and decor as I’m not a trained stylist… but the biggest? Nothing jumps out.

What qualities do you look for when choosing materials, furniture and accessories in your designs?

  1. Teak, velvet, vintage, peach, pink, leather, cane/rattan & love woollen wall hangings.

Are you a curtains, blinds or shutters person?

  1. All of the above depending on the window!

What products did you choose from dc+b?

  1. Sheers for our dining area.

How did our products transform your home?

Gave the area a hotel lux vibe and a softer feel to our exposed brick home.

Some people find it difficult to decide what to do with their windows. Any tips?

Ask the experts at dc+b for advice, it helped me! And also just remember there are so many more options than you think so ask about those.

How do you find inspiration? (dc+b magazine, website, socials, in-store).

  1. Socials for me.

What design project(s) are you working on at the moment?

Would love to consider more curtains actually!
